Soft Soap Anti Bacterial Class Action Settlement

• Provides information about the Colgate-Palmolive Softsoap Antibacterial Hand Soap Marketing and Sales Practices Litigation

The soap in question was sold by Colgate-Palmolive in the states of California, Florida, Illinois and Nevada between the dates of Feb. 4, 2011 through Oct. 28, 2011.  Class members who opt to stay a part of the Soft Soap Anti Bacterial Class Action Settlement will be represented by the law firm of Shaheen & Gordon PA (Lucy J. Karl will represent the firm).  Kaplan Fox & Kilsheimer LLP will also play a part in representing the Soft Soap lawsuit class members.

Colgate-Palmolive Soap Lawsuit Round Up

• Took over two years to come to settlement terms
• Left over settlement money will be given to charity
• The study was from the year 2000 by the Centers for Disease Control and found that triclosan used in the typical five-second hand-washing of the average person did not kill most common bacteria
• Class members are defined as anyone in the United States who purchased this soap starting on Jan. 1, 1992
• Colgate-Palmolive claim they stopped marketing the product in 2011
• The FDA stopped allowing firms to sell soap made with triclosan unless they could prove it was better than using old fashion soap and water
